Hello Online Beauty Bosses! In this “How-To” I’m going to fill you in on a quick tip on how to get more online sales with Avon free shipping and other time sensitive promotions.

I’ve been doing this for a while now and I’ve noticed when I take this extra step I can squeeze out a few more sales by the end of the night.

But before we get into our topic I think I should mention this first.

In a previous “How-To” I talked about using Mailchimp and how to boost your Avon Free Shipping sales with the automated email service they offer.

So before you go through today’s “How To” I recommend taking a look at the previous Online Beauty Bosses article so that you can get familiar with the Mailchimp features and their services.

Ok, so now let's get into “How To Get More Sales Out Of Your Avon Free Shipping Emails”

Avon Emails Last Call Tactic

Basically, this is what I do. I call it “The Last Call Tactic” and it’s very simple.  It's not groundbreaking or earth shattering or anything, it's just very simple and effective.  I've been doing this for quite some time now and as mentioned earlier, I've noticed that every time I've done it I've been able to squeeze a couple more sales by the end of the day. 

Whenever we have a Free Shipping offer, in the morning I'll send everyone on my email list an email, letting them know that Avon is offering free shipping. 

Then later on in the afternoon, let's say about four o'clock local time, I'll check my email stats to see who didn't open the email that was sent in the morning.

Last Call Second Email

Once I view my stats I'll go ahead and send a second email to the customers who didn't open that morning email. 

It’s so easy but this simple tactic has helped me boost my sales on those free shipping days! We all know how busy everyone is and if a customer doesn’t check their email in the morning, by the time they check it in the evening, those morning emails get pushed down in the inbox. So, if you send an afternoon email it’s going to be fresh and on the top of their inbox list. 

Now the one thing that you want to keep in mind is that that second email that you send out, you only want to resend the emails to those who didn't open your first morning email. That way you won't aggravate your Avon customers who opened earlier in the morning.

Tracking Email Opens

Okay, so right now you might be asking, “How do I know who opened my emails?” Well, you could send out your regular email just through your regular Outlook inbox, Gmail, Yahoo, and so forth. Or even send out a text message. But the thing about that is you won't be able to get the stats on who opened your message. 

Third Party Email Service

That's why I recommend using an email service, like Get Response, A-Weber, Constant Contact or MailChimp.  For this how to, we're going to talk about MailChimp because MailChimp is a free service, and I recommend it because you get more from the free service than from the other free services that are out there.


How To Implement The “Last Call Tactic”

Here is a quick overview of what to do but for complete step-by-step details make sure to watch the above video on how to do this.

Step 1 Send out your first email (early morning) to your entire customer list. Go into Mailchimp and “create a campaign” which is basically just creating an email. (see video for steps)

Step 2 Then in the afternoon you'll want to check “Open Stats”. MailChimp makes it very easy. All you do is you click in the campaigns tab and then you click on view reports and it'll show you exactly how many people opened and how many people clicked. You’ll also notice in the report the people that did not open your morning email. Those are the people you're going to want to send that second email to.

Step 3 Basically you’ll want to send out the same email that was sent out earlier so all you’ll need to do is copy the email and modify any time sensitive greetings or content accordingly.

Step 4Next you’ll need to segment your list to send out to only those who didn't open your morning email. In Mailchimp you can easily set this up and in the above video I walk you through step by step.

Don't be intimidated with the steps shown in the video. Just watch the video at the same time as you're segmenting your list, stop it and do the step then continue the video, that way it will be easier to follow.

Give It A Try

Once your list is segmented just send it out and see if you get any additional sales! This has worked for me, so it's worth a try and it's fairly easy to do.
